Captains are at the heart of everything we do at Careem, working tirelessly to serve our communities every day. Each year, we look for ways to use our technology to amplify and support those who power Careem, and during Ramadan, a time of generosity and giving, we wanted to launch a feature that empowers customers to show meaningful appreciation. Rooted in our values of compassion, responsibility, and community, we launched “Tip Matching”, a feature that celebrates both our customers’ generosity and our commitment to supporting Captains.
Tip Matching is back
From February 16 to March 18, every tip of AED 10 or more that customers add for Captains will be matched. Whether it’s a grocery order on Quik, a meal through Food, a Rides or Hala Taxi booking, or an order on Box or Shops, your kindness will now have double the impact. It’s our way of standing with our customers to support Captains during a time defined by kindness and giving back.
How it works
We’ve made the process as simple as a single tap. When you place an order or complete a ride in the UAE:
- Select your tip. Choose an amount of AED 10 or more.
- We match it. Careem automatically matches the amount, doubling the total tip the Captain receives.
- Instant impact. You’ll see a clear “x2” indicator in the app, and your Captain will receive a notification showing both your generous tip and the added contribution from Careem.

Transparency and trust are at the core of our mission. 100% of all tips go straight to the Captain who was assigned to the order or ride. There are no hidden fees or deductions; just pure appreciation for their hard work.
